The local NBC affiliate takes a look at the gay marriage issue:
The Charleston Chapel for Weddings started performing commitment ceremonies after owner David Rister bought it. He expects other states to follow suit.
“I think this is where we’re going,” he says. “Not to bring up politics but 20 years ago we would have never had a black president. Look where we’re going with that. One’s running. I think it’s awesome>
While our state doesn’t legally recognize same sex marriages, the latest statistics show more than 10,000 gay couples live in South Carolina.
Charleston County reports the most with nearly 800.
