The Log Cabin Republicans have a new ad on the radio in New Hampshire today against Mitt Romney. Like the last TV spot, the new ad doesn’t address Mitt’s shift against protections for gays and lesbians, but instead highlights Romney’s abuses against the people of New Hampshire when he was the Mass. governor through tax hikes.
“Mitt Romney’s record doesn’t match his rhetoric on taxes and almost every other issue,” said Log Cabin Republicans President Patrick Sammon. “No matter what he says now, Romney’s record on taxes doesn’t add up.”

I think you are totally missing the point on the Log Cabin ads against Mitt. If Log Cabin (or any other gay group) goes after Mitt on the gay issues, the right wing crazies will feel emboldened, and validated. By going after him on the issues that really matter to mainstream Republicans (taxes, Ronald Reagan’s legacy), those same mainstream Republicans can genuinely question just what the guy stands for — which if you can tell me concretely one position that hasn’t changed a bunch in the past few years, I’m all ears.
Log Cabin hit a home run with both of these ads. Take off the rainbow glasses long enough to see what they are trying to accomplish. Winning the battle, but losing the war is a strategy that left proves every day doesn’t work.
Justin, I wasn’t being critical of the Log Cabins’ methods, only recognizing them. I agree entirely that this is a much better way to lay out the argument against Mitt and certainly speaks to the Log Cabin motto of sticking to traditional Republican principles of smaller government, less taxes. I think you should take off the angry glasses. There’s no judgments in that post.
Log Cabin was very smart with this ad! Keep in mind that it’s running in New Hampshire. Romney signed a law taxing the incomes of people who work in Mass. but live out-of-state. Most Mass. out-of-state commuters live in… New Hampshire!
