On Friday August 3d, 2007, a training seminar entitled “Skills For Engaging The Legislative Process” be held in the South Carolina Statehouse Lower Lobby. The event will be proctored by one of my favorite Palmetto State elected officials, SC Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter (D-Orangeburg) and SC Rep. Joan Brady (R-Richland).
The seminar is scheduled from 1:00 pm until 4:30pm, so nobody needs to sacrifice those weekend dreams of the
Cha-Cha Palace. The purpose is to show participants how to negotiate their way through the legislative process minus the traditional “checkbook diplomacy” angle, increase skills and knowledge to be a more effective advocate and build connections between other nonprofit organizations.
Sponsors are the Alliance For Full Acceptance, SC Equality Coalition, SC Log Cabin Republicans, SC Young Democrats, College of Charleston Women and Gender Studies, Carolina Peace Resource Center, New Morning Foundation, SC Progressive Network, SC Coalition for Healthy Families and the Womens’ Action For New Directions.
